Publishing House Description
AMG Publishers is a mission-focused publishing house in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We publish approximately 25 new titles yearly and our focus is on books in the following fiction genres:
Inspirational Fantasy/Speculative/Sci-Fi/Visionary, including high fantasy, Biblical fantasy, epic fantasy, contemporary fantasy, dystopian/post-apocalyptic works, allegorical fiction with fairy tale-esque magic, and science fiction. All manuscripts in this category should have some redeeming quality that illustrates a Christian message or POV. Works in this category can be targeted to audiences ranging from middle reader to adult.
Contemporary Fiction: Novels with contemporary subjects and settings that would not be dead ringers for the chic-lit or Christian romance genres. Think Karen Kingsbury’s Tuesday Morning series. While romantic elements are welcome, we don’t want books that have romance as the main story line. Some outside-the-box contemporary Amish manuscripts might be of interest.
Contemporary Suspense/Thriller: Think Steven James or Brandilyn Collins or legal thrillers in the mold of James Scott Bell or John Grisham. Trendy topics that are of interest to Christian readers that might fit this category include bioethics, stem cell research, military themes, terrorism, natural disasters, etc.
Historical Fiction: Manuscripts relating to British or American history get most of our attention, but manuscripts that delve into subjects relating to world missions, persecuted Christians in any culture, or something similar could be of interest to us. American “prairie fiction” and Amish fiction may also be of interest if it is not romance-oriented or primarily in the chic-lit genre.
Nonfiction: AMG Publishers is also seeking niche-oriented daily devotionals for its Battlefields & Blessings series, Bible study workbook manuscripts, and Bible Reference works. We have cut way back on Christian living and inspirational/self-help books but may consider nonfiction manuscripts in these genres on a case-by-case basis.
We Are Not Pursuing: Poetry, illustrated children’s books, memoir/personal interest stories, run-of-the-mill chic-lit, Christian romance in its various sub-genres (Amish, historical, romances tied to a certain U.S. state or region), novellas or short stories of any type, Christian horror, gothic literature, and manuscripts with swear words or offensive language, gratuitous violence, or overt sexuality.
