Agency Description
(see also listing
on page 571 of the 2008 Christian
Writers' Market Guide)
Books
& Such Literary Agency's
slogan,
“Discerning Literature,” forms
the hallmark of our work. We
focus on helping authors to
develop topnotch ideas, to stretch
and grow with each new book
they write, and to think strategically
not only about their next book
but also about their careers.
Understanding
the ever-changing rhythms of
publishing trends and how to
respond to them is an integral
part of the service we offer.
We
concentrate on developing long-term
relationships with the authors
we serve, shining the light
of success on them, and helping
them to be savvy caretakers
of their abilities and time.
In
2005, Wendy
Lawton
— author of 10 young adult and
teen books and two adult books
as well as founder of the Lawton
Doll business, which created
collectible, prize-winning dolls
— joined the agency.
In
the summer of 2007 Books &
Such added publicist Kathleen
Y'Barbo to its staff. With her
PR experience and degree in
marketing, Kathleen exclusively
works with our agency and clients
to promote their books, writing
achievements, and awards. This
makes our agency the first in
the Christian market to hire
a publicist to be part of its
staff.
In
September 2007, Etta Wilson
joined the agency. The
author of 12 childrens books,
Etta is a member of the Society
of Children's Book Writers and
Illustrators, the Women's National
Book Association, the Southern
Festival of Books Planning Committee,
and a founding member of the
Tennessee Writers Alliance.
Books
& Such has been in existence
since 1996. In any given year
we place more than 150 projects
with a variety of publishers.
